How to build a kitchen open shelving

Steps
- Sand and oil boards on all faces.
- Mark bracket lines level; avoid cables and pipes.
- Fix brackets at 900 mm maximum centres.
- Screw shelves down from underneath.
Tip: Keep the lowest shelf at least 450 mm above the worktop so the kettle and toaster clear it.

- 4 × steel shelf brackets rated 40 kg+
- Food-safe hardwax oil
- Masonry or stud fixings
