How to build a bedside table

Steps

  1. Cut top, base, two sides and a shelf.
  2. Glue and screw the carcass together.
  3. Iron on edge banding and trim.
  4. Add a drawer or leave as an open shelf; finish with oil or lacquer.
Tip: Match the top height to your mattress top, not the bed frame: usually 550–650 mm.

Materials

  • 1 × 18 mm birch ply, half sheet
  • Edge banding
  • Drawer runners, 300 mm (optional)
  • Wood glue and 30 mm screws

  • Circular saw
  • Drill/driver
  • Clamps
  • Iron (for edge banding)
