How to build a fold-down wall desk

Steps

  1. Fix the batten level at 730 mm into studs or masonry.
  2. Fix folding brackets below the batten.
  3. Hinge the desktop to the batten top.
  4. Finish and add a magnetic catch to hold it folded up.
Tip: Standard desk height is 720–750 mm; set the batten top there.

  • 1 × 18 mm ply or oak-veneer board, 900×500 mm
  • 2 × folding shelf brackets rated 50 kg
  • 1 × 44×44 mm wall batten
