How to build a log store

Steps

  1. Build a slatted base frame 100 mm off the ground.
  2. Stand posts with the front 150 mm taller for a sloping roof.
  3. Clad the back and sides with gapped featheredge for airflow.
  4. Fit roof rafters and the sheet with a 100 mm overhang.
Tip: Airflow matters more than cover. Gap the side boards 20 mm; a sealed store keeps logs damp.

  • 10 × 70×45 mm treated timber, 2.4 m
  • 8 × 125×22 mm featheredge, 2.4 m
  • 1 × roof sheet (corrugated bitumen), 2 m
