How to build a pallet wood planter

Steps

  1. Strip the pallets and remove nails.
  2. Cut 12 slats to 600 mm and 12 to 300 mm, plus 4 corner blocks.
  3. Screw slats to corner blocks to make four walls.
  4. Add a slatted base and staple in the liner, with drainage holes.
Tip: Only use pallets stamped HT (heat-treated). Avoid MB (methyl bromide) and unmarked pallets for food growing.

  • 2 heat-treated (HT-stamped) pallets
  • 30 × 4×40 mm screws
  • Liner or pond liner offcut

  • Pry bar or pallet buster
  • Hand saw
  • Drill/driver
